I want to feel good, you want to feel good. But when we are constantly stressed from the state of the world, our crazy family, or just a demanding job, it can be hard to get the sleep we need to heal, reset and reinvigorate that youthful glow. But what if sleep doesn’t show its shadowy self when you put your head on the pillow?
When you are feeling burnt out and can’t come down from a stress induced cortisol high, what do you do?
Shroud yourself in candle light, gentle music and aromatic scents (think lavender!) and end your…
This post is part of a series about working in Internal Operations with a focus on events, bonding and culture.
A few years back I started a secret nightly routine I code named: Goddess Hour. A ritualistic closing down the day ceremony consisting of stretching, journaling and lighting candles and staring into the flames (magic!). I wasn’t sleeping well at the time and needed something to zip up the day to recenter my mind, body and soul so that I could actually fall asleep.
At the time I was working on a pressing events project and became so manic over…
This post is the first in a series about how to bond with your colleagues and build a culture of togetherness through events, employee experience techniques and transitioning from physical to virtual back to physical office life.
I’ve been an Office and Events Manager in Silicon Valley for over 7 years and seeing humans lit me up in a way I didn’t realize until after it was moved to faces on screens. Like many things we have had to adjust to in the last year, not seeing humans in IRL is up there for many.
As a Senior Office Manager…
I want to tell you a story. A story of time travel. A story that begins many years ago as any worthy tale must in order to evoke the nostalgia brought on by a distant memory…But I don’t want you to think there was a machine involved. And by no means do I want you to think the participant was inebriated.
See back before there was a pandemic, people were always on the move. They drove places they wanted to go, they flew to take vacations and they ate out at restaurants just because they could; the year was 2014.

Repost from last years Christmas Eve adventures…
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the store,
Not a kombucha was stirring, not even a pint of coconut kefir.
Presents were purchased; cookies baking in the stove,
In hopes that the guest list would eat them in troves.
While pacing the store isles and rubbing my chin,
The journey to find kombucha was about to begin.
Isle after isle the suburban grocery store growing in size,
Kombucha waiting in the furthest corner, I surmised.
Dashing and dancing past human obstacles of obstruction,
I arrived at the cooler to find its…
With the 21st Night of September looming , I thought what better time to dust off the old article I posted last year and get you all re-inspired.
So it’s another day at work and someone casually mentions in passing: Did you know it is National Avocado Day!? #avocadotoast #toastytoast. And you are like, oh jeez is there a day for everything now?
And while being quite the contrarian, you refuse to celebrate because for whatever reason, all the National Days have seemed to lose their meaning in this windfall of constant celebration. …
Hello, my name is Nikki and I am a sugar addict.
This girl at work knows I have a sugar addiction, word has gotten out.
She knows not to let me go near the candy dish. She watches me like a hawk. It’s the only accountability I have.
Now I supplement the chocolate treats with coffee and the day takes on a different kind of spiral.
So, on my drive over to group tonight, I had this sinking feeling in my stomach thinking I would have to go through the litany of all the ways sugar has ruined my life.
Hi Everyone, my name is Nikki and I am a sugar addict.
I used to have glowing skin and teeth, blinding even, but sugar ruined it to a dulled down gray. Now I’m forced to put all sorts of activated charcoal products on my face and teeth just to be vibrant again.
I smiled the other day while brushing and had black drool go down my favorite dress. The stain did not come out.
I find myself here again. Sugar Addict Support Group (SASG), Thursday evenings. I scan the room, guessing what horrible thing pushed these people so far to the point where they had to attend SASG in the first place. They look so defeated; do I look defeated? I think of Sally and the wedding cake incident from last weekend. I really hope the bride is okay, physically. And Sally, emotionally. Oh jeez, the moderator is looking at me, it’s my turn. Here we go again…
Hello, my name is Nikki and I am a new member of the sugar addiction club…
